The city of Semarang, on the island of Java, Indonesia, has just opened a small library. In the design of the structure, the principles of bioclimatic architecture have been applied, with a multifunctional design, whose furniture has two or more purposes, using certified wood. Named Warak Kayu, the microlibrary is elevated above the natural ground level. An inspiration in the country's traditional architecture. The method resembles the stilt construction system normally used in flooded areas. By “suspending” the library, an open space was created on the ground floor. This area can be used for different purposes. The staircase, which gives access to the building, was also designed to function as a stand. Bioclimatic architecture. This type of architecture seeks BTC Number Data to take advantage of local climatic conditions, intelligently, in favor of sustainable construction. Among the most notable aspects, brise-soleil (sunshades) and projections on the roof were implemented, which prevent the direct incidence of solar radiation. The wooden walls have openings that encourage cross ventilation with the intention of cooling the interior of the library. This eliminates the need for air conditioning, ensuring greater thermal comfort without large energy expenditure. Also striking is the fact that the library is built entirely with FSC-certified products. The seal ensures that the wood has been grown and cut in a completely sustainable way.
